Welcome to the Ark by Stephanie Tolan is different from every other book that I normally read. I usually take interest in mushy romantic love stories. So you can see that Welcome to the Ark was something a little different. Much to my surprise, I enjoyed the book more than I anticipated. At first I thought it started out a little slow but later after the "project" started, the story seemed to pick up a little bit. I caught myself reading the majority of the book in two days. Once the four of the kids all got together, the plot seemed to speed up and get a little more interesting. I thought Miranda was one of the most extraordinary characters of the novel. She had the intelligence to invent her own language. I tried that myself when I was a child and got nowhere. On top of that she had the ability to speak in several other languages. I enjoyed the ending when the "family" got all back together (with the exception of a few). However, I expected Elijah to show up. I was a little disappointed when it didn't happen. It was a good book, and I got a chance to read outside of the mushy make-you-want-to-puke kind of novel.
